My kowhaiwhai pattern

Art Skills Focus

The children will be able to:

• Hold a paint brush correctly

• Use a paint brush to demonstrate different techniques

• Use a different brush strokes

On art attack we did some kowhaiwhai patterns. I had green under the mountain and red on the outside of the mountain. There was white on the inside. We planned it before art attack week. We put the paint on. When I was painting the red they mixed and made a tiny bit of pink. We mixed a whole lot of colours to make a dark, funny army colour green.

Discovery

I am making a s40000.

I am doing go thinking by trying to put new things together to make it work.

Probability

Walt to use the language will, won't, might, certain, impossible and possible.

It is impossible that we will see a Carebear book in the Cinderella story.

What is my place?

We are learning about relationships and who we have them with.

We linked relationships by the people who wrote them or who people had the relationships with. Some were on there own and we couldn't link them. We talked about how we could link them if we did more pictures or if people who were away came back and did one too.

Some relationships are happy, some are sad, some are angry and some are mad.

Art attack

WALT: use different painting techniques to paint a picture of a pukeko.

We will know we can do this when:
·     we can mix colours;
·     use different colours to emphasise specific features/details;
·     use different brush stroke techniques to create different effects;
·     we can paint a background

I like the background because it looks like a real swamp.
